Facts and Data

  • Roughly 3 out of 4 passengers enplaning at SeaTac originate in the Puget Sound region. Remaining passengers are so-called "transit passengers", using SeaTac to connect between flights.

  • Roughly 1 out of 5 passengers originating in the Puget Sound region originate in the North Sound area: North of the Ship Canal, North of Lake Union, North of Lake Washington and North of Kirkland.
Many of these passengers would be able to take advantage of passenger service at Paine Field.

  • Roughly 7,000 passengers travel from the North Puget Sound area to SeaTac each day to catch a flight.
Roughly 7,000 passengers return from SeaTac each day as well. Traffic studies by the Port of Seattle indicate that most of these passengers travel by car in single occupancy vehicles.

  • It is expected that up to 1,000 of these passengers would take advantage of flights out of Paine Field each day - chosing from 10...15 daily departures to top destinations such as the Bay Area, Los Angeles basin, Las Vegas, Portland and Spokane.

  • Paine Field operates at roughly 45% of capacity - with a little over 400 daily operations (2006).
10...15 additional daily departures with quieter aircraft will go unnoticed and the airport would still be used at less than 50% of capacity.

  • There is not need to expand the airport - just use it for its intended purpose. There is plenty of room for a small terminal and parking - all on existing airport property.

Just imagine - Fly Paine Field!
