Goals

Paine Field has been identified by many as a key County asset that is woefully underutilized. The airport can and will serve the County as part of the traffic infrastructure, an economic driver and a source of prosperity for residents and businesses.

At no cost to the taxpayer, landing fees and ticket surcharges will pay for all necessary infrastructure improvements just as they do at many other municipal airports—while providing travel convenience, time savings, reduction of road traffic and associated pollution. Regional commuter air service will add significantly to the community's economy and tax revenues.

Summarizes of key goals:

Direct:

  • Regional commuter passenger service at Paine Field by mid-2008.

Indirect:

  • Increased ability to recruit high-tech and high-value companies from King County and from outside Washington State as a result of commercial air service, ease of access and overall convenience of using Paine Field as a regional commercial airport.

  • Increase the local tax base to improve schools through the recruitment of new businesses and likely increase in tourism.

  • Increase the funding for the arts and raise the quality of local restaurants through the recruitment of new businesses.

  • Reduce congestion on I-5 and I-405 by offering an alternative to Sea-Tac.
