KUOW 94.9 FM Interviews Us and the Protesters

« Back to list

8/14/2007

Ross Reynolds of KUOW-FM's "The Conversation" heard weekdays from 1 - 2 p.m. interviewed Fly From Everett dot org member Hans Toorens.  The protest group trying to prevent any passenger service from using Paine Field was represented by Don Doran.  As you listen to the interview, ask these questions:  Why does Mr. Doran have to get up at 3 a.m. to make his flight at Sea-Tac?  Why does Mr. Doran imply we're telling people flights from Paine will go to all major cities, when we clearly spell out the true objectives are reasonable flights to relatively close destinations, like the Bay area, Portland, Las Vegas, and elsewhere?  And why does Mr. Doran try to further confuse the issue by using the word "hub" to describe our vision of Paine Field?  We specifically state that Paine Field's ultimate role is as a "commuter" or "municipal airport."  Even the issue of noise is overblown, but we do agree with Mr. Doran on one point, this region clearly has a ground transportation problem, too.  Using Paine Field would remove lots of trips from I-5 and I-405 to Sea-Tac and lessen some of those problems.  You can listen to just the Paine Field interview by clicking here.  Alternately, can download the entire hour-long program by going to the KUOW webpage for "The Conversation" by clicking here.
